The symposium provided a unique opportunity for international
participants to discuss their recent findings and identify
research needs in the field of waste mechanics. The symposium
also attempted to achieve consensus on the procedures for the
characterization and testing of MSW. Finally, the symposium
provided a review of our understanding of waste mechanics for
use in engineering practice.
